The reunion party was a good-time had by all. Mary and I want to express our appreciation to the cmte members, who dedicated their time and effort to the event, and a special salute to those who did much of the heavy lifting. The added attraction in the ball-room next door, was a feature that enhanced the entertainment quotient. It was hard not to notice one of the heavyweights. He must have been miserable, stressing a pair of size 12 feet into a struggling pair of size 10 pumps. Oh to be avantgarde!! The guy with the beard wearing a fetching little number, that could have been out of the Jeff Chandler collection, should have been told that the beard was not working. The Chewbacca/Sasquach presentation for cross dressers is apparently out this year!!?? Givenchy would have been bleeding from the eyes. Frankly, I expected more from a former Air Force personnel gala, resplendant in their class "A" uniforms..... Anyhow, Mary will stay on for a week or so, staying with my Mother in Golden Valley. I headed out Sunday, and drove straight through to Las Vegas, 1700 miles. For no compelling reason, just ready for the west. Fired up my jets, blasted the CD's...A little George Thorogood to help me get through MN, a little B.B. King to help me get through Iowa, A little Mitch Ryder to help me get through Nebraska, A little Patsey Cline to help me get through AZ, NOTHING helps get through Utah,except maybe Vaughn Monroe???, then bring it on home to NV with Nancy Wilson. Seriously, glad I had a chance to visit with old friends. My only regret for the night, was not playing two songs over and over next door, and let them fight it out......"I am Woman" by Helen Reddy, and "Stand by Your Man" by Tammy Wynett. sigh....................................... | ||

Hey people, isn't anybody talking anymore? Give em one night of "hats & horns", with a 20% turnout, and entertained by a gaggle of drag-queens, and everybody dives back into their holes. The prudent thing to do, would be to call or write those who did not attend, and tell them they were missed. Some of these folks may need some encouragment, or a subtle nudge that they are thought of, or that people care about them, or whatever. I'm not one of them, but certainly somebody out there does. My sensitivity levels are too low for that leap in caring, but it would seem to be a seed to plant. I did talk with the LAS VEGAS contingent of folks who missed the gala, Peg Nyman and Chuck Cline. They will get copies of the class roster. "Flight pattern " Denny Carpentier wouldn't care one way or another. I suggest we put together a gathering for four years, when the theme would be in celebration of eligability for Social Security/ Medicare. Beverages of prunes du jour, raisen gumming contests, and other "low-impact" events. Just a thought. larry | ||

Hi everyone -- I couldn't make the reunion at the last minute due to a family emergency and wouldn't have cancelled except it was necessary --had to cancel at the last minute (Wednesday 8/6) and re-route to Seattle. I want to thank Janice for her prompt refund due to my cancellation and her kind words. It was a very trying time for me and my family. I am sorry I had to miss all of the fun and friends and look forward to the next reunion -- hopefully nothing will keep me from going next time. I know a lot of work goes into a reunion and even though I didn't make it, I want to thank the reunion committee for all of their hard work. I received a copy of the directory from Sandy Tantzen Evanick (thank you) and I do have a suggestion for the next one -- it should have everyone's email address (those that have one) -- as that is the way a lot of people are keeping in contact nowadays. | ||

To the reunion committee - thanks for planning and pulling off a great evening.Marsha (Southwest 64)and I had a wonderful time. I hope that classmates will use this Website to keep in touch before we gather again. Hanging out with Tom Reis, Dave Bryant, Bob Swanson and Moon for the weekend made me feel eighteen again - thanks for your friendship. | ||

Thanks for posting the pictures of the class reunion. My wife and I could not attend because we were at a family reunion on my cousin's farm near Alexandria. Our family get-togethers are always scheduled for the second weekend in August on this farm which dates back to the original homestead in the 1880s. Additionally, it was move-in weekend for our older daughter who's a senior at the University of Minnesota at Morris, which is fifty miles south of the farm. Anyway, the pictures gave me a chance to see some friends through the computer screen and to see what the party was like. I just wish there was a way to enlarge the name badges on my computer so I could better figure out who everybody is. Thanks to those who did all the work and for posting the pictures. What a great night! Earlier in the day I visited Howe School, Sanford Jr. High, Roosevelt, and the University of Minnesota where I graduated in 1967. The party brought back a lot of memories. Interesting how so many agreed with me that the 1950s was such a great time and a lot more sane. I thank everyone who organized the event because I know it took a lot of effort. I look forward to the next reunion. |
